“Homecrafts came highly recommended for both their workmanship and as great people to work with. After our first meeting we really felt we could trust them and they would do a great job. We were not disappointed. They really know what they are doing and go the extra mile to make sure all parties are happy”
We were approached by this client as they were planning an extension to their traditional family home. With 2 small children they hoped to build an extension that would become the hub of the home with a new kitchen and easy access into the rear garden that they could all enjoy together.
One of the main challenges was to match the new extension windows with the traditional single glazed ones in the original part of the house. Our vast experience enabled us to copy the original design, mouldings and leaded patterns from the existing windows and adapt it slightly to incorporate high performance double glazing. We matched this with some traditionally styled ironmongery and created an original looking set of windows and doors with all the performance benefits of a modern window and a white gloss finish in our factory before installing them.
Throughout the project we regularly liaised with the client to make sure they were updated with progress and also their builder to ensure the installation was co-ordinated with his schedule.
“We went to Homecrafts as we had seen some of their work and instantly felt comfortable once we had met them. We are thrilled with the work they have done for us, they are such nice guys and always do a quality job”.
Sash windows and garden rooms are one of our favourites as they can often be the most rewarding jobs to work on. We were delighted when we were approached about this project which involved replacing some of the sash windows in a traditional farm house but also building a garden room at the same time.
The sash windows needed to be replaced with new hardwood like for like double glazed windows. Our design incorporated an improved draught proofing system and as always we were particularly careful working in their beautiful home.
The garden room posed a slightly more difficult challenge: joining the original house with a more modern building. The client wanted to keep the sash window style but also create a modern and relaxing space.
We designed a room that had a self-cleaning full glass roof and was mirrored with French doors and replica sash windows on either side. To ensure that contrast between the new and old buildings was not too stark, we suggested a change in colour to soften the transition. Soft green was chosen from our extensive colour range and this blended perfectly with the red brick of the two buildings.
